Re: 10% off of our popular Powdered Whole Eggs
Thanks, Vendico. I ordered a case. They don't appear to be available in stores around here and the price seems reasonable. It works out to about $2.5 a dozen, which isn't bad considering their shelf life (they advertise 5-10 years.) Do you know if they are canned with oxygen absorbers or nitrogen atmosphere? If not, I might re-can them myself when they arrive.

Is there anyone who has actually made scrambled eggs with this Honeyville brand and can honestly say, "Yes, I used them for scrambled eggs and they were nearly as good as fresh eggs"? |
Re: 10% off of our popular Powdered Whole Eggs
I bought a can from Honeyville a couple of weeks ago and they make a decent scrambled egg (IMO). We may have added a bit too much water because they were slightly wet, but the taste was good. My wife even liked them. She said they were much better than mountianhouse eggs with bacon. She also said they reminded her of omelets. I haven't had an omelet in years so I can't confirm.
I will buy more. They came packed with an oxygen absorber. |

I made scrambled eggs with them and the taste and texture is nothing like real scrambled eggs IMO.

Re: 10% off of our popular Powdered Whole Eggs
This thread is of interest to me because I've concluded that all eggs are not "created equal." We try to buy fresh eggs in bulk (because they do keep for weeks when refrigerated) only when they are on sale. But on several occasions, I have tried buying the premium products (Eggland's Best, for instance), even though I cringed when paying at the register, just to see what the differences might be.
In my opinion, Eggland's Best eggs have heavier shells; the yolks have a noticeably brighter yellow color; and the whites are not as runny as ordinary mass-market eggs. And the flavor is better, too. So, I wonder to what extent peoples' experience with dehydrated eggs correlates with the quality of the eggs used as inputs. Anyone out there with knowledge or care to weigh in on this aspect? |
Re: 10% off of our popular Powdered Whole Eggs
I bought a case back in mid March this year, for $99. Now they are $112 a case. Honeyville grains cans are only 2 1/4 lbs. Delivery is fast, and only $5.00
These people have 3 lbs #10 cans for $90.87 a six can case, but it says 6 to 8 weeks for delivery and I don't know how much it cost. http://www.aaoobfoods.com/welcome.html I ordered mine from Honeyville before I heard about aaoobfoods. I did open a can and try them. Not too bad, just a little after taste. I think their main purpose is for baking tho. |
